ENT101: Marketing for the Young Entrepreneur

As a student, you probably come across advertisements every single day, whether it’s on the television, on social media platforms, or on the road to school. As a future entrepreneur, you will likely depend on marketing to promote your product or brand. Marketing is a great way to get your brand’s story out there and increase sales. But, did you know that an ineffective marketing campaign can also cause you to lose money? This is why it’s important to analyze your marketing strategy before executing your campaign, part of that analysis includes understanding your brand identity, your customer base, and the appropriate marketing channels you will use. These are only a few of the important factors that you should consider when developing a marketing campaign.

  • Market Segmentation
  • MarMarketing Mix
  • Marketing Research
  • Marketing Plan

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this course is to help students learn the importance of marketing in the world of business and how it can be applied to increase awareness of a brand. Students will also prepare for and participate effectively in a range of conversations and collaborations with fellow classmates while building on each other’s ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.

REQUIRED MATERIAL

You will need to access your student portal every week to complete the assignments and engage in the weekly Zoom discussions. All reading material will be provided to you in your lesson tab. This class involves outside research.

There will be no exams for this course. You may be asked questions throughout the live meetings, but this is just to get encourage engagement.

EXPECTATIONS

Respect each other. The most important rule for our class is to respect one another. You do not need to agree with someone to communicate respectfully. Let’s keep this in mind when we interact with one another.

Be prepared for each lesson. Students must complete the assigned work and research for each week to earn points. It will help you get the most benefit out of this course if you take the activities seriously and put in the effort to learn. Additionally, you are encouraged to reach out to your instructor for additional guidance.

Basic research skills. This course is for students who have a basic working knowledge of online research. You should know how to employ proper online search techniques to conduct effective research.

Enjoy the class. Being prepared is essential, but you should never forget to enjoy your experiences. This class will help you achieve your goals by introducing you to valuable tools and resources and presenting information you can continue to utilize throughout your life.

How to download and complete your assignments:

There are two versions of your assignment, a Microsoft Word version, and a PDF version. You can download the files, and type in the information using Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or another PDF editing software.

You can also print the worksheet and handwrite your answers, scan it back or take a picture and submit it to your instructor. If you have any issues accessing any of the files, reach out to your instructor.
